What is HVE PTA?

The Highland Village Elementary PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) is a non-profit volunteer organization which serves to support the students, teachers and staff at Highland Village Elementary School.

PTA General meetings are held 3 to 4 times a school year, typically at family events.

PTA Board meetings are held on the first Tuesday's of each month in the Library.

Everyone is welcome to come listen and take part in discussions at meetings. (Membership is not required to attend meetings or events, only to vote on budget changes or board members.) Coming to meetings is a great way to get to know fellow HVE parents, learn and talk about happenings at and around school, and hear updates from admin, teachers, and occasionally other guest speakers.

Aside from meetings, the PTA also hosts many fun annual events throughout the school year. The HVE PTA is an integral part of the HVE family. Not only do we host fun events during the school year, such as science and family nights, Back to School and End of School Bashes and Book Fairs, we also provide funds and volunteers for our teachers and staff.

What does HVE PTA do?

  • Provide HVE students with well-rounded academic and enrichment opportunities.
  • Provide our parents with parenting education programs.
  • Provide communication about PTA and school activities, and other important information through newsletters, website, bulletin board and other appropriate channels.
  • Encourage two-way communication, foster parent participation in their children’s education, and encourage cooperation among teachers, administrators and parents for the education of our children.
  • Provide family activities and foster school spirit.
  • Provide parents with LISD School Board and state legislative information on education matters.
  • Provide volunteers to assist teachers and staff in areas and acknowledge their efforts.
  • Provide teacher and staff appreciation.
  • Sponsor fundraisers to provide funds for the purchase of items to enrich and enhance the education of HVE students and to meet general budget needs.
  • Welcome new students and their families and continue to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere at HVE for all students, staff, and families.
  • Create an environment of cultural diversity and increase opportunities for awareness of different cultures.

PTA is a grassroots organization made up of parents, teachers and others around the state who have an interest in children, families and schools. PTA membership is as diverse as Texas is in cultures, education levels and parenting skills. By joining PTA, a member becomes part of the largest child advocacy organization in the state with nearly 500,000 members across Texas.

PTA provides opportunities to meet with others who have the same interests as you. By sharing common concerns, you will feel more empowered. Being part of PTA connects families and schools and results in parental support and makes school involvement easier. PTA also provides educational opportunities.
